VANITY THY NAME IS KERRY

"I am saddened that Vietnam has yet again been inserted into the campaign."

-JOHN F. KERRY--1992

"...For why did Wolsey by the Steps of Fate,
On weak Foundations raise th' enormous Weight
Why but to sink beneath Misfortune's Blow,
With louder Ruin to the Gulphs below?..."

--The Vanity Of Human Wishes, by Samuel Johnson

Ignoring his own advice to candidates for President in 1992, John Kerry inserted Vietnam at the center of the 2004 campaign. Horsefeathers is not saddened, but rather welcomes his doing so. Why? Because more important even than who becomes President, is the need to redress, as much as possible, the harm done by Mr. Kerry to so many honorable men. That is happening, as his fellow Vietnam veterans weigh in on the character of this bloviating braggart who took the first opportunity he could to bug out on his 'band of brothers', then built a career trashing them as war criminals, like "Jen-Jus Khan". Yes, indeed, 'Bring it on'. Mark Steyn thinks Kerry is stupid: "...What sort of idiot would make the centrepiece of his presidential campaign four months of proud service in a war he's best known for opposing?.." Horsefeathers is more inclined to think that, like many intelligent people, Kerry is driven by self-defeating forces of which he is utterly unaware. And if his campaign is collapsing under the 'enormous weight' of his own past, thereby costing him the Presidency, well that would be psychologically fitting, and provide some small solace to those who believe that punishment deferred is better than punishment escaped.

Remind me again: why are we so confident that Bush did his time in the National Guard? Why didn't he get the physicals? I'm curious, because if his salary was funded through T-bills, we taxpayers may have just finished paying for his salary last year.

Mark Steyn thinks Kerry is stupid: "...What sort of idiot would make the centrepiece of his presidential campaign four months of proud service in a war he's best known for opposing?.."

The kind of idiot that knows he has plenty of kindred souls who suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome.

See the above.

Posted by: Grumpy at August 27, 2004 12:51 AM

Ah, the comfort of lapsing into an ad hominem attack. Let's review where this supposed "Bush Derangement Syndrome" comes from:

1. A columnist -- so positive about Bush that he insisted we'd find WMDs in Iraq within months after the fall of Baghdad.
2. This columnist claims to be a psychiatrist, yet, has never produced any evidence that he's done any kind of examination which would qualify for identifying an actual syndrome. SFAIK, Charley never put it up for peer review, right?
3. Psychobabble, therefore.

Grumpy, you need a better fig leaf.

Posted by: Frank at August 27, 2004 09:25 AM

Remind me again why you're talking about Bush and his National Guard Service?

Remind me again why you're talking about someone else and psychiatric examinations?

Oh yeah-- Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Posted by: Grumpy at August 27, 2004 12:46 PM

Grumpy, since brought Bush Derangement Syndrome up, and couldn't remember why I was responding to it, maybe you should seek some help for your memory loss?

Posted by: Frank at August 27, 2004 01:26 PM

Frank, youve already rational thinking loss of demonstrated, now to hell is your syntax shot.
Help get, man.

You can't even a retort of one line your way make through without referent track of losing.

I'm afraid Bush Derangement Syndrome advanced sign of that is.

Probably too late for a support group to cure , but try it out.

Posted by: Grumpy at August 27, 2004 05:07 PM

Grumpy, if I may so, that's typical behavior on your part: use a typing mistake to avoid discussion. :-)

Posted by: Frank at August 27, 2004 05:16 PM

Wo was that that's avoiding discussion Frank?

The article states that Kerry took the first opportunity he could to bug out on his brothers.

What are you disputing?

Did he serve a full tour, or did he leave due to receiving three Purple Hearts- the first of which, his commanding officer refused to sign?

Did he join VVAW and present testimony which has been thoroughly debunked or didn't he?

Did he present this same testimony to the Senate or didn't he?

Did he make unfounded claims about war crimes as being standard procedure or didn't he?

Is he willing to release his records which would show who is telling the truth or isn't he?

You're a useful idiot Frank.
You have no idea what you're talking about- that's what's "usual" here.

Posted by: Grumpy at August 27, 2004 06:02 PM

Right-wing jerks are showing their true abilities to reason here. When a witness has been shown to be mistaken (or flip-flopped) about as many details as these spotlight-grabbing charlatans have, there is NO NEED to discredit their entire stories. They are thieves in the temple, just waiting their expulsion.

Anyone with half a brain can look at where Bush is, and see that he looks no healthier than Carter did after his first term.

You're going down, dudes: make it better for yourselves by not being such total partisan jerks.

Posted by: Sam at August 27, 2004 09:10 PM

Hey Frank-- I've been trying to explain to you what your problem is for months.

Here comes this newbie poster and he nails it right off.

"Anyone with half a brain can look at where Bush is, and see ..."

Just insert that at the beginning of your posts and your whole perspective would come into focus.

Posted by: Grumpy at August 28, 2004 01:29 AM

You picked a good time to let it be Frank.

Maybe someday you'll learn to let it be from the start when you have no idea what you're talking about.

John Kerry is a liar. You're an idiot.
Shut up.

Not only didn't John Kerry deserve the first purple heart he was awarded, not only was it refused by his commanding officer, his tales of being in command of the operation at question are also false.

For those who like to ask-- sez who?? were these people on the boat with John Kerry?

Yep. Says the officer who commanded the operation- which wasn't John Kerry. Kerry has been lying about that too.

National Review

John Kerry is a liar.

What has John Kery said about people who claim medals they didn't deserve?

"Is it wrong? Yes, it is very wrong. Sufficient to question his leadership position? The answer is yes, which he clearly understood,"
WorldNet

Posted by: Grumpy at August 29, 2004 07:41 AM

Uh, Grumpy, Kerry served two tours. If they were abbreviated due to medal regulations, I think your beef is not with Kerry.

Get it straight, and then come back.

Posted by: Frank at August 29, 2004 10:52 PM

Frank you idiot, I know Kerry served two tours- one on a boat offshore, and one where he lied in order to get medals he didn't deserve and receive an early out.

That's the tour I've been talking about- where he lied about his performance, lied about being in Cambodia, took an early out and came back to the states where he proceeded to lie about the performance of other troops, and - while still in the Navy- met with representatives of a foreign government that was engaged in a war with the US.

Maybe you thought only lying about half of his tours of duty made him some kind of hero? This is what happens when you look at things with half a brain. ( see previous note , above)

I have no beef at all with the regulations- only with liars and idiots.

Kerry is a liar, and a traitor.

You are an idiot. ( not an inclusive asessment- see other posts for full assessment and documentation of Frank as an idiot and liar whose patriotism needs to be questioned)

Posted by: CASINO at August 30, 2004 05:10 PM

Imagine that- Kerry lied about his first tour too!

http://snipurl.com/8lo0

This guy really has an impressive record of lying- and we haven't even gotten past the early 70's.

Posted by: Grumpy at August 30, 2004 10:12 PM

Perhaps the best evidence that we are in a booming economy comes from the fact — yes, fact — that no one has stepped forward to claim Gary Trudeau's $10,000 reward by dmeonstrating that they served with W in the Alabama National Guard.

$10,000 still sitting, waiting.

Any takers? Any one here? Everyone too rich?

Posted by: Frank at September 5, 2004 09:38 AM

Perhaps the best evidence yet that Frank is an idiot.

Only an idiot would cite a cartoonist for evidence of anything.
Let alone "evidence" for something that has nothing to do with the topic.

Not tomention something that the cartoonist himself agrees is "a silly stunt."

As Trudeau said- "as a simple investigative cartoonist, I don't have a very big tool kit."

Go look it up yourself, Frank. It would be a big improvement to your toolkit if you learned how to use your computer.

Kerry is a liar.
You are an idiot.

Posted by: Grumpy at September 5, 2004 02:07 PM

Uh, no Grumpy, only an idiot would think I was citing a cartoonist as evidence. What I cited was the failure of anyone to come forward and claim his reward. That's different. (That's a three syllable word, so I'll say it again, more slowly: diff-er-ent.)

Who has Bush listed as having served with? Where are all the people who say they served alongside him?

You really should see a doctor and see if your condition requires some kind of intervention. I won't diagnose you, but I think you might want to have yourself checked out.

Posted by: Frank at September 5, 2004 07:10 PM

Frank,
John Calhoun remembers him from Alabama. See Byron York. Kerry's quarrel is with the Swifties. Why aren't you urging him to release his FULL military records, plus the notebooks he gave to Brinkley. Attacking Bush's Vietnam service won't cut it.

Posted by: Stephen at September 5, 2004 07:29 PM

Actually, Frank I knew quite well you weren't citing anything as evidence- that's why I put "evidence" in quotes.

Being an idiot, the only reason you cite anything is to to argue.

The reason you can't answer any of the questions concerning Kerry, is as cited numerous times- Kerry is a liar and you are an idiot.

Posted by: Grumpy at September 5, 2004 11:23 PM

Grumpy, I have presented evidence; perhaps you are too blinded to have noticed? Rood? Lampert?

Posted by: Frank at September 6, 2004 11:39 AM

Stephen, I presume you mean "Vietnam era" service for Bush -- he didn't actually go, you see, and even checked off a box requesting that he not be sent.

I'm not urging Kerry to release anything about the past because this election is about the future. And based on the last four years, Bush can't even fight the war on terror.

Posted by: Frank at September 6, 2004 11:43 AM

Frank,
It must have been some other "Frank" who claimed that no-one remembers Bush from his Alabama Natl Guard days. It couldn't be you because surely you'd now acknowledge your error (not 'lie'). And it must be that other candidate posing as Kerry who based his candidacy on his PAST war heroics.

Posted by: Stephen at September 6, 2004 12:14 PM

Helluva write-up, Frank. Anyone who doesn't read it doesn't really care about America. They just want to hate.

Posted by: Sam at September 6, 2004 12:53 PM

Stephen, Calhoun's timeline is wrong: "the time John Calhoun says Bush was in the unit conflicts with documents."

With all due respect, Stephen, you strike me as suffering cognitive dissonance or denial about the truth regarding the Bush administration. I remember that you were convinced that Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11, and in spite of all that we've heard, you haven't revised any of your support for Bush. This, in spite of the fact that he's shown himself to be unfit for the war on terror. As a result, he puts America at greater risk. Everyday. If you loved America you wouldn't give Bush another four years. If he were in any position in the business world, he'd have lost his job long ago, and being President is far more important than that.

Posted by: Frank at September 6, 2004 01:25 PM

Frank, you shouldn't get into cognitive ability debates while you're in the throes of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Saddam Hussein was a murderous dictator. The United States removed him from power with the full authority of Congress and with the authorization- as if we needed it- of the United Nations.

Who the hell cares what Stephen thought about Saddam Hussein and 9-11?

On the other hand- the topic here is your good friend John Kerry.

The one who betrayed his fellow soldiers, falsely accused them of war crimes, lied about his own service, and while in uniform met with representatives of the North Korean government in war time.

Idiot.

Posted by: Grumpy at September 7, 2004 03:20 AM

Grumpy, we'll take this one issue at a time.

When did Kerry accuse others of war crimes? Whom was he talking about?

Did he say he had seen them, or was he only reporting what others had told him about themselves?

What were his exact words, and to whom did he say them, and when?

In this way, we can be sure you're not taking him out of context.

I want to hear it from you, I don't want you to send us all to some web site. Cut and paste if you like.

Posted by: Frank at September 7, 2004 07:30 AM

Go find it yourself. You need the practice.

And do be careful about context.

Other than you and Sam, the rest of us here know what we're talking about.

I want to hear it from John Kerry. Find me a John Kerry quote acknowledging that testimonies from WinterSoldier were fraudlent and given by people who never served in Vietnam.

Show me a quote from Kerry acknowledging that his first purple heart request was denied by his commanding officer. Show me a document with a signature on it.

Show me an explanation from John Kerry detailing the material related to claims about his service that he has removed from his website when the information was challenged.

Show me an acknowledgement from Johm Kerry that he has read the Constituion and understands this section of the fourteenth amendment.

"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President ... having previously taken an oath ... to support the Constitution of the United States, [who has] engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,"

Now ask him what he was doing as an officer in the Navy meeting with the North Vietnames governnment during war time.

Get back to us Frank. Do get back to us with some information- not the deluded screeching and yowling, word games and gotcha games of a useful idiot.

John Kerry is a liar.
You are an idiot.

Posted by: Grumpy at September 7, 2004 02:50 PM

Sorry, pal, when the prosecution is a no-show the case is dismissed.

Dismissed.

Posted by: Frank at September 7, 2004 06:13 PM

More on Calhoun here.

Posted by: Frank at September 7, 2004 09:22 PM

I suppose if you wanted to look at this as a court case Frank, you might well be found mentaly unfit to stand trial.

Then there's always the option of pleading not guilty by reason of insanity.
Unless you get an idiot to represent you, establishing diminished capacity is a pretty sure bet.
