JOURNALISTIC TRADITION
While listening to Bob Schieffer on Imus this morning, assuring us of the high standards held by Andrew Hayward, Dan Rather and all the noble truth seekers at CBS I was reminded of how little has really changed about the character of journalists. Small wonder they overwhelmingly support Baron Munchausen for President.
Samuel Johnson, 245 years ago, approvingly cited Sir Henry Wotton’s definition of a journalist: a man who requires “neither genius nor knowledge, neither industry nor sprightliness; but contempt of shame and indifference to truth are absolutely necessary. He who by long familiarity with infamy has obtained these qualities, may confidently tell today what he intends to contradict to-morrow; he may affirm fearlessly what he knows that he shall be obliged to recant…”

I know this by Garrison Keillor will probably not be the cup of tea of most folks here, but I only ask you read it with an open mind, and a thought to what "conservative" really has meant. Thanks

Too bad about Garrison. I used to like Garrison Keilor before he drank the Kool-aid.
Two possibilities:
1/ Maybe This wasn't written by Garrison Keilor, sounds more like another Michael Moore screed. Maybe Burkett and Rather are trying to pawn off another forgery.
...the Scourge of Liberalism, the Great Crusade Against the Sixties, the Death Star of Government, a gang of pirates angry white men who rose to power on pure punk politics.
...hairy-backed swamp developers and corporate shills, faith-based economists, fundamentalist bullies with Bibles, Christians of convenience, freelance racists, misanthropic frat boys, shrieking midgets of AM radio, tax cheats, nihilists in golf pants, brownshirts in pinstripes, sweatshop tycoons, hacks, fakirs, aggressive dorks, Lamborghini libertarians, people who believe Neil Armstrong’s moonwalk was filmed in Roswell, New Mexico, little honkers out to diminish the rest of us, Newt’s evil spawn and their Etch-A-Sketch president
----------------------------------------
He forgot to say poopy-heads.
Possibility #2/
Garrison has become a hairy-backed swamp developing nihilist brown shirted misanthropic dork channeling Michael Moore on his Etch-A-Sketch
He did get this right:
This is a great country, and it wasn’t made so by angry people.
True then, and still true today.

Where is the outrage at the proven lies and distortions of the SBVFT? Or how about finding out who supplied the FORGED Nigeria Uranium document?
Hmmm... Do I detect a bit of shame from you Bush monkeys?
