September 25, 2004THE DEBATES WON'T MATTER: IT'S OVER        Conventional wisdom among our media punditocracy is that the upcoming Presidential debates will decide the election. This is, in Horsefeathers view, nothing but wishful thinking by the wordsmiths now growing increasingly desparate over their candidate, John Kerry’s, prospects. It’s finished. The fat lady sang a long time ago, perhaps when she saw John Kerry saluting and “reporting for duty." It doesn’t matter that the mainstream media analysts will announce, following each debate, that Kerry has triumphed and begun his comeback. The debates will do nothing to change the dynamics of a race that is already over, except for the allocating of blame. In fact, Horsefeathers suspects that the more debate skills Kerry shows, the worse he’ll do. Kerry is the first PoMo candidate for President. Thanks to the Swift Boat Veterans we know that the central formative event of Kerry’s life, Xmas in Cambodia, described repeatedly in the most vivid terms, never occurred. For our contemporary liberal arts post-modern wordsmiths, reality is “constructed”, and constructed out of words. For them Kerry’s Cambodia story possesses narrative truth sufficient to make it ‘real’, even if for most of us the fact that it isn’t true constitutes an overriding reality. As to debates, particularly loved by liberal arts majors who overvalue words, anyone like Kerry who has been on a debate team learns the essential skill of mustering verbal arguments on both sides of any debate. In fact, standard debate practice involves taking first one side and arguing it passionately, then switching to the opposite side and doing the same. Perfect training to become a John Kerry! << Back to Horsefeathers |

Agreed....Kerry is, politically speaking, kaptuski. Recent polls show American WOMEN supporting Bush by a great majority. Remember Reagan won New York State and with a little help Bush could win NY and Penn and that along with Ohio would mean goodbye Kerry the Kaputski. Kerry for President....of Club Med.
I hope John Howard's Liberal Party wins in Australia...he is up by 8 points...Big election October 9.
Australia has 850 men in Iraq and contributed 2000 men (including top commandos) in the invasion. "Australia", I predict, "will be there". They like Britain our best friends, unlike the Canooks of the North.
History will list the great heroes of Poland, Australia, Britain and the USA who helped defeat Islamofascism and strangle the monster in its lair while liberating the Iraqi people, men, women and children.

Have any of you wise souls compared the 2000 popular vote totals to the 2000 poll results? Gore won the popular vote by about one-half of one percent, but practically all the polls predicted Bush by about 2%.
Just providing some historical context... and the Times is reporting that Democrats have been far more successful at registering new voters in Florida and Ohio than the Republicans have.

I believe American can distinguish between pepper and fly shit. Kerry need not both Mayflower regarding moving arrangements.

"Just providing some historical context... and the Times is reporting that Democrats have been far more successful at registering new voters in Florida and Ohio than the Republicans have."
Actually, it's the oppostie this time around. Some surveys show as many as 25% of Democrats are voting for Bush, whereas only about 5% of Republicans are jumping ship. What's more, if you total up the number of vote fraud cases in 2000 (dead people, illegal aliens, punch card double-punching and vandalism), it comes to around 800,000 votes...more than Gore's popular vote margin.
It's not the people voting for Kerry that's the worry, it's the dead people and illegal aliens voting for him that might shift things.

WhiskeyMan, it sounds like you are talking about a different aspect.

Kerry was and still is a brave warrior, one who has the nerve to tell the truth.
Bush on the otherhand still can't explain his failure to show up in Alabama and Massachusetts. It's a miracle he bothered to show up in DC. Wait, I forgot: all those vacations. Too busy vacating to address the August 6 PDB. I know of about 3,000 people who'd like to thank him for his focused reaction.
Posted by: Sam at September 28, 2004 03:56 PM
Note to Sam re. Bush's "failure to show up in Alabama..."
Sam, it's over. Keep whining. Change your huggies too. Lest you forget, George W. Bush is the Commander-in-Chief. What that means is that he is at the top of the DOD org chart. He is at the top of the pay scale. He's been on active duty, not reserve/guard duty for the last four years leading our armed forces against the extremists who use terror as a tactic with the stated intention to not only deprive you of your first amendment rights but to kill you and your family as well. Smell the roses, dude. Your guy is THE loser. wah, wah, wah.
Posted by: RangerSam at September 28, 2004 04:43 PM
RangerSam, have you read the 9/11 report? It's not clear Mr. Bush was on active duty after he got that PDB.
And since then? Well, he was warned about the risks of venturing into Iraq ahead of time and went ahead and did it. He also received a report in July (this July) that outlined no positive scenarios for the future in Iraq, and then went to the stage in NYC and fed you losers a load of crap about the progress in Iraq.
Kerry's not the loser. If Bush is re-elected, the US is the loser. Every citizen outside the top 10%; that may include you, and your children, who will be paying down the debt for years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years.
Remember how he inherited a surplus from Clinton? Doesn't ring a bell? Of course not, because YOU ARE A LOSER.

lmfao.
25% of Dems are planning to vote for Bush? 800,000 cases of voter fraud in 2000? Ri-ight. Is that kool-aid cherry flavored, or tropical punch?
Don't worry about those 'dead people' voting, though WhiskeyMan. The good ole boy network can still rig an election in the deep south. Jeb's still guv, and you got the same 5-4 majority on the Supreme Court.

Balanced budget goes to record deficit.
The majority of America's armed forces are committed to a pissant nation that, while extremely ugly and vile, couldn't have laid a glove on us.
That same nation which, according to the state dept did not house al qeada activities (www.usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/terrornet/12.htm), but to Bush was more important than hunting down and ending OBL and al qaeda.
Tax policy that encourages business to send US jobs overseas, and an administration that calls sending Amercian jobs overseas "good."
Why would anyone vote for this guy?

What does Col. David H. Hackworth (USA Ret.) the United States' most decorated living soldier, and Senior Military Columnist for DefenseWatch magazine, think of George and Dick's Excellent Iraq Adventure?
"In its micro way, the [Jessica] Lynch scam symbolizes the miasma of deception surrounding the invasion and the ugly unsolvable occupation already causing the direst consequences to our national security.
"From post-9/11 to the present, the war too has been based on lies fanned by the same Pentagon propaganda machine busy doing everything possible – including the censorship of our troops in Iraq for “national security purposes” – to convince the American people that, as we sadly heard for eight bloody years in Vietnam, there’s “light at the end of the tunnel.”
"We went to war because we were told Iraq had WMD that threatened our country’s security and that Saddam was a key player behind 9/11. Both have been proven to be super whoppers.
"We were also told that liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk with few U.S. casualties and would cost no more than a billion bucks – which would quickly be repaid by Iraqi oil. Yet more duplicity.
"So far I count 1,050 American dead, 7,750 combat wounded and about 30,000 non-battle casualties. And our war costs are already close to a cool $200 billion.
"Meanwhile, Super Flack James Wilkinson, the reported Spielberg of the Lynch saga, has recently been shifted from desert duties to advising National Security Advisor Rice on how to further deceive the American people.
"Like Vietnam, the cover-ups and distortions will continue until the press and the people wake up. Hopefully that will be before the count is 3,000 or 4,000 dead American soldiers."

Sorry wingnuts, you can believe the so-called-liberal-media all you want.
There is a groundswell in America that will be written about for years to come. That a so-called steady leader you call bush but the world calls asshole took a perfect democracy and basically shit on it would be met with complacency?
You thought America would just roll over while these wannabe-nazis just ran roughshod over the Constitution? You really thought that?
My, my, it's gonna hit you all harder than we thought.

It is amazing all the people who seem to think they have extra sensory powers to see into the future. What will they do when they find out they were flawed and completely wrong? Maybe they will commit suicide? We can only hope so...
Rightwing wingnuts are already counting their eggs before they hatch. Do they think they can intimidate people from voting? That must be it... Why should I vote for Kerry if he loses... I could care less... I am voting Kerry and voting Kerry proudly as a patriotic American. I don't buy the crap being handed out by BushCo. They have lied before, they continue to lie, and they will lie in the future. There is no impetus to change.
Maybe by intimidating the other side they can feel better about themselves? Maybe their sex organs can peek out from under the flab as they get excited about killing and hurting and intimidating others. That must be it... It is amusing to see people saying "It's Over" before it even begins. I have seen others do that, and end up eating their words...
Thank you,

Funny, but arn't you liberals supposed to LOVE everybody,
No, you're thinking of Christians.
Liberals believe people matter, that the wellbeing, rights and freedoms of actual human beings are more important than the wishes of companies or states.
The flipside to that is responsibility. The Bush Administration lies, spreads fear and intimidates precisely to avoid responsibility. They'd do anything to avoid being held accountable.
A lot like Commander Codpiece was doing when he skipped out on the National Guard, actually.

I fully expect Bush to win. The Diebold-built "electronic ballots" are fixed, the south is run by the same folks who fixed the elections last time, and too many have too much ego to say the nation made a mistake. We'll go further down this road of perdition, making enemies of people we need not have and letting our enemies prosper at our benefit.
Posted by: Godozo at September 29, 2004 11:32 PM
OH GOD THE BALLOTS ARE FIXXED!!! Give me a break, the ballots were ok, AS LONG AS YOU WON, and there were no problems in FL with the ballots in ALL the previous elections AS LONG AS YOU WON, the election hasn't even started, and you have already started crying you are a LOOSER, and so is everyone else who CRYS like you do!
We didn't Cry, or make clams that the elections were rigged either time that Clinton won, and of course no one called fowl when Hillary claimed impeachment of her husband would make the U.S. look bad when she was one of the lawyers working on the Nixon impeachment (oh but that’s ok, he was a Republican). And of course you ass hats erase your memories that it was Clinton how let Bin Laden go that actually might have caused 9/11, no all your troubles are either someone else’s fault, or you love to blame it on inanimate object, YOU THE LIBERALS ARE THE BLAMELESS SCOCITY!!! NOTHING COULD EVER BE YOPUR FAULT, WHY DON’T YOU MOVE TO FRANCE WHERE YOU CAN HATE AMERICA WITH THE REST OF THE SCOCALISTS OF YOUR KIND!
Posted by: BrunoGunn at September 30, 2004 11:09 AM
BrunoGunn,
Yeah, but the right wing was going batty making up issues to eventually try to impeach President Clinton... You guys weer just fine with Clinton, YEAH RIGHT.... Why don't you make up some more jokes and post them here, like you just did.
BTW, Democrats care about people. But we also get upset about politicians who are abusing their powers. If Bush hasn't abused his power, I don't know who has. Can you compare what Clinton did to what Bush has done? It boggles the mind... Clinton had an affair with an intern, while Bush took the country into a war which he lied about to the people, and continues to lie about. If that is not an impeachable offense, then please, tell me why. Bush has abused the power of the presidency, leaving it in the toilet. What was once the greate democracy of the world, the pillar of justice and freedom, is now tarnished. Will we ever be able to remove this tarnish from our image? I do hope so, but it cannot happen as long as THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER is in office.
I don't know why the Repugs don't just move to another country. Maybe they can destroy themselves, without hurting the good people in this world. You REPUBS are hurting this country, and more importantly this world. Do you think you own the world? I bet you do... You are arrogant and selfish, but I am sure that you already knew that...
It is funny that you think that liberals hate this country... How many have you sat down and talked to? I bet you are completely clueless... I don't know a single Democrat who hates America. We certainly hate what Preznit Bush has done to this great country. We are the patriots while you are the invader. You are unwelcome in our country, and you should start looking for a hole to climb in very soon...
SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP - Bill Orielly
Thank you,

Hmmm yes, I guess lying under oath, was ok... if anybody but a democrat did that, they would have been in jail, also anybody having sexual relations with an employee in the workplace and using their power to get what they wanted from the victim, would have been strung up, but not if they were a democrat, oh, but in your mind the EVIL RIGHT WING LIED, you love to rewrite history, to explain what you wish people to know.
RECENT EXAMPLE: The Assault Weapons Ban
As your democratic candidate stated, Now they (the republicans) let the assault weapons ban expire, now the terrorist’s will be able to obtain machine guns more easily… I thought being one of the ass hats who sponsored the bill in the first place, he would have read, the bill he was going to sign, and know what he voted for, but I guess not, or he, and the others who voted it in LIED the 94 Assault Weapons Ban had nothing to do with FULLY AUTOMATIC FIREARMS (that was the NFA of 1934), in fact they aren’t mentioned in the 94 bill, it banned a flash hider (that does nothing more than stop the shooter from being blinded), the bayonet lug (because there were so many drive by bayoneting) and a collapsible stock on SEMIAUTOMATIC rifles with a pistol grip… Other than that, the same rifles could be legally sold to shooters between 94, and 04, talk about lying to the public.
So here are real facts, tell me I'm making this up, if you do you live in FANTASY LAND

Funny, one hour after the debate,
In my circles, President Bush just got what we like to call "served." His time is over, finally, and a new day is coming. The bumbling fool doesn't have damn clue what's going on anywhere. Thank god we exposed him tonight in front of everyone.

After the debate
Debate does matter! Most used phrase of President Bush: Ummmmmmm. Kerry on the other hand was eloquent, informed, and gracious. Bush started out strong, but through the debate showed he can't lead even a debate, let alone our country. John Kerry spoke facts, Bush sounded redundent, speaking flip-flop inspite of corrections by Kerry. Bush came off in the debates as a bully, instead of well informed and eloquent, while the only man with an honorable military background spoke factually. Bush knew he lost the debate, it showed in his body language, while Kerrys body language was strong and confident, after all, he had facts behind his reotoric. Bush has been viewed by the world as a bully, not a team player, which is needed for one world.
To the previous post I'm not sure where your facts are from, but the feminine view of Bush involves the abortion debate, in which Bush does NOT lead! Both candidates approve of strangling the monster in its lair while liberating the Iraqi people, men, women and children. They simply have different views on how to go about it.
Sometimes I think we all forget why we live in a democrocy. Why our forfathers thought that a democrocy would work better than what we had under Englands rule. Let us all remember why.

Uh, where is Bin Laden? Where are all these jobs your daddy Bush was supposed to make? Everyone is so worried about "terror" that they are forgetting about things like "eating". Looked at gas prices lately? What about these companies that are leaving here for India which is massly populated by the very religeon that's cutting off American's head? The guy talks about nothing else but this "terror" when he can speak half decent. Give me a break. At least Kerry is smart enough to want to share the cost of the war than run in there like a friggin thug and shoot up the place then ask questions later

Neither of these guys impressed me. Neither of them gave a clear concise answer of what they were going to do in Iraq. Bush said we have to stay the course, Kerry said, go to my website to see my plan “which I did, and other than saying that he will persuade the UN to join the fight, the plan is the current plan happening right now. Other than that, they should have had 50 lawyers from each party slinging quotes at each other, and saying he said she said.

2 Things:
I don't particularly like Kerry. But I'm a dem, and I'll vote for him. Here's the problem: I can express some problems with my "lesser of two evils". Most people can't. Their guy's right ALL of the time. That's dumb. George Bush was a scared, little pussy when it came to going to 'Nam. Now, you can say that and still vote for him becasue you think he's better than Kerry. It's OK. But the revisionist history re: BOTH of their pasts is scary, and just shows how closed some people's minds are on both 'sides'.
2 - most of you are rascist, fat, LAZY,-( research is too much work) spoiled, idiots who see only black and white (usually due to a lack of cognitive resources) and are willing to pay in your kid's blood for your ridiculous ideologies. The shitty part is I'll be the one to get blown up on the subway becasue you guys - especially this feathers ass-hole - think war is a football game - more entertainment from the magic TV! You boomers have been given everything - and nothing bad is EVER supposed to happen to you. And if it does, you'll fuck everybody - responsible or not. Lashing out, like the spoiled little shits that your whole generation is.
"We're not just making MORE terrorists by deciding to kill ALL the Muslims! Once they're all dead, everything will be all right again!". Sounds like a great plan. Good luck with that. And try not reep too much of what you're sewing - it's nasty shit.
may you drown in your own excrement,
