LETTER TO OUR ENEMIES (CONT.)
The author of Letter To Our Enemies has given Horsefeathers permission to identify him; he is Martin Kozloff, Professor of Education at a Southeastern University and he can be reached at:

Amen! I have long held that either the mythical moderate muslims find a way to muzzle their extremists, or we of the West will do it for them. And no one will be overjoyed at the aftermath. That is, we of the West will have survived and will continue the race of mankind, and we will mourn the fact that you forced us to annihilate your creed. Make no mistake about it, push us far enough and there will be no black rock, no mekkah, no medinah, no riyahd, no teheran, no trace left of your miserable and pitiable moon-god "religion".
This is one small voice in the midst of the silent majority of the US middlewest. This small voice is and will be accompanied by tens of millions of others. We are not the vaunted and impotent arab street. We are the voice of truth and justice, we are the voice of righteous wrath and terrible strength. You have no idea of what you are invoking, I pity you, you simple fools.
Russia will slice your northern border into ribbons. China will feast on your piteous howls in the east. India will find her long delayed revenge on your hideous history. And we in the West will sweep the tattered remains of your hide-bound "culture" into the ashbins of history.
Thus it has been, thus it shall be. Beg your pagan moon-god for mercy. When sufficiently motivated, we will show none.
The bloody borders of Islam will turn into the killing fields for your false prophet's craven and cowardly words and history. Enough of Western liberal guilt, enough of civilized and restrained behavior, I will readily trade hundreds of millions of your followers for a single child of the Western enlightenment.
Continue to engage our ire at your peril.
Just because this guy gives you his permission doesn't make it wise for you to publish his name.
We don't need his name. He speaks for many, many of us. You might as well publish all of our names.
Leave his identity out of this. You know not publishing his identity is the wise thing to do, even if he does not.
Remove his name.
He's got the link on his own site - he's proud of the letter - and, sorrowfully for the children in North Carolina, he's supposed to be teaching future teachers.
As for you guys, get a life.
I am proud of the letter as well.
I think he is a Great American.
Great Letter!
Let me tell y'all about the kind of guy that wrote the third comment, above.
First, you notice not a single rational response to anything in the letter, to which the commenter objects.
Why is this? Is identifying a specific error or flaw in the letter, stating it, and refuting it too difficult? Or does the commenter simply get off on doing exactly what he or she doesn't like about the letter?
Seond, note that instead of reasoned argument, what you get is an attack on the writer. As of this makes what I wrote somehow invalid.
But this sort of argumentation, which is somewhere between lazy and and childish ("You're a big stinky poo poo; therefore, you are wrong.") only goes over among members of the same flock. Folks with a stronger commitment to reason and facts (i.e., most persons who frequent the good doctors of Horsefeathers) dismiss this sort of argumentation as mere kaka.
Third, I have met this sort of commenter before--they are the sort of "perfessers" who infest most schools of education with their untested, so-called "progessive" faddish drivel (such as whole language and constructivist math, and multi-cultural curricula).
They do not need to test anything they shove onto new teachers and public schools because, as with other so-called liberals, they just KNOW they are right. Besides, they really are more concerned with tenure and fat retirement packages than the welfare of kids.
In fact, if your kids struggle to read and di math, you can blame PRECISELY the fake liberal progressives in ed schools.
If your kids can't read, get Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. 20 bucks. Tested before it was sold. If you can't find or afford it, I'll send you one. Till the money runs out.
And if your kids struggle with math, get these materials....

All the guns and ammunition in the world can't protect you from your own paranoid delusions, Mr. Kozloff.
Best of luck in dealing with that small-minded, racist, fearfulness. It's going to be a tough road ahead.
There are several flaws. (1) The writer makes a whole "culture" responsible for the outrages of some individuals within it. (2) The writer seems to suggest either that Iraq was behind 9/11, or that distinguishing between the countries and people of the Middle East isn't really important. Remember, Saddam was secular; Osama was fundamentalist. (3) Civilians are being targeted. (4) "pro-arab-muslim organizations" and "arab-muslims" are to be targeted regardless of whether they are guilty or not.
If you really want rational responses to this hate-filled un-American, racist screed, here goes:
One day soon, our planes and missiles will begin turning your mosques, your madrasses, your hotels, your government offices, your hideouts, and your
neighborhoods into rubble.
Okay, here he is encouraging the bombing of civilian areas and the slaughter of non-combatants. A clear violation of the Geneva convention. Remember how upset you were about Kerry accusing American soldiers of doing this in Vietnam.
As cowards, you will have your hands in the air and you will get on your knees begging for mercy. And we will instead give you justice.
I assume he is encouraging soldiers to kill both combatants and non-combatants who are attempting to surrender. This is another serious breach of the Geneva conventions and the UCMJ and will subject our soldiers to criminal charges of murder.
We will burn your mosques.
This is arson under state laws, a hate crime in many states, and a federal crime under a couple years ago that made the arson of a place of worship a federal crime.
We will invade the offices of pro-arab-muslim organizations, destroy them, and drag their officers outside.
Again a felony in all fifty states, a hate-crime in many, assault and battery at the very least.
We will tell the chancellors of universities either to muzzle or remove anti American professors, whose hatred for their own country we have tolerated only
because we place a higher value on freedom of speech. But we will no longer tolerate treason.
Well nobody has repealed the first amendment yet, so this is premature. Treason is strictly defined in the constitution and requires an overt act precisely because the framers were very concerned about the abuse of the sedition and treason laws by the British. I wish people would be a lot more careful about throwing around the word treason.
RE: messr F Frederson. Geneva Convention?? Hate Crimes? Sir, have you recently recovered from a coma of some sort? Does the date 11SEP04 ring a bell in that numbskull of yours? Better than 3,000 of your countrymen dead! Does the Geneva convention apply only to the west? Please tell me sir, what is al Qaedas position re: this so-called Geneva convention? It appears that the arson laws that so frighten you, were of little deterrent when those maniacs used 767 heavy jets (greater than 300,000lbs gross TOW) as malotov cocktails for their tragic and pathetic vandalism. Is al Zarqawi getting in touch with his rational side? Your ignorance of the nature of war and it's requirements is astounding. Your post amounts to rhetorical vandalism.

correction to above 11SEP01 should ring a bell in Federsons numbskull
Does the date 11SEP04 ring a bell in that numbskull of yours?
This was the date that 19 people performed a criminal atrocity, hijacking planes and flying them into buildings.
And you want to respond by declaring war on 1.5 billion people because they happen to share the same extremely broad umbrella of "Islam"?
How... American... of you.
I take Doctor Kozloff's letter to be a reminder that as happened in earlier conflicts, extreme provocation has resulted in extreme responses by nations and cultures that otherwise placed great value on restraint and moderation. The carpet bombing of German cities, the fire-bombing of Dresden and Hamburg, and Tokyo, were no respecter of the sanctity of houses of worship, no respector of innocent non-combatants. Ditto the atom bomb.
I have tried to imagine how Americans might react if a band of Islamic zealots actually managed to detonate a nuclear device in an American city. My worst imaginings of our reactions are similar to what Doctor Kozloff describes.
There are many people presently very comfortable describing themselves as liberals— sensitive to cultural diversity and respectful of other groups’ religions and beliefs— who will be transformed into savages they could not recognize, by a terrorist nuclear weapon blast.
I’m not certain that a “dirty bomb” or limited chemical or biological attack would get the same reaction, unless there were tens of thousands of fatalities. We seem to have gritted our teeth and pulled through the Anthrax scare that came on the heels of the 9-11-01 attacks. But those Anthrax letters only killed a handful of people. For all that, they managed to tie the postal service in knots, trying to deal with the POTENTIAL threat.
So, while I don’t advocate doing the things described by Doctor Kozloff, I predict that most Americans... most HUMANS... would happily go along, if the terrorists persist.
I recommend for all, regardless of your political leanings, Wretchard @ Belmont Club — Three Conjectures

The "extremely broad umbrella" of Islam includes hundreds of millions of believers in jihad, holy war against the infidels. These death cultists include the killers at Beslan who shouted "allahu akbar" as they gunned down children, it includes the beheaders who also shouted 'allahu akbar' as they slaughtered their victims. It includes the millions who cheered and shouted "allahu akbar" as the "allahu akbar" chanting pilots slammed their planes into the WTC. To imagine this is just a few criminals whom we need to capture, give an ACLU lawyer to and prosecute is beyond naive--yet it's the sentiment of all you anti Bush peace lovers, who incidentally, seem to rely mostly on 4 letter words in place of reason. We're in a war with a foe--Islamo-fascism--that' is more dangerous than Nazism or Communism. It will require willingness to use overwhelming force. After we win, and deal with Islam as we dealt with the Shinto followers of the divine Japanese emperor, then is the time to be multiculturally sensitive.
This was the date that 19 people performed a criminal atrocity, hijacking planes and flying them into buildings.
Nice rationaliaztion "criminal atrocity". How convenient to avoid the tough decisions required to respond to an act of WAR.
How... American... of you.
Yes, America is all about killing gnats with 12lb sledgehammers, and it is high time we started doing that in Iraq and elsewhere. We should stop making nice in places like Fallujah, and unleash some America style cruelty. The point of this is not cruelty but rather to sufficiently motivate the camel jockey in the next tent to put down the terrorist when he begins spewing his anti-American/Western rant.
Our response to the next 11SEP01 should be so horrific, cruel, and bloodthirsty as to inspire at once shame and horror at the mere mention of the word "American". That will prompt "abdul"-whoever to check his neighbor so we don't have to.
It is precisely the mindset of treating terrorism as a crime that is going to dig us deeper into a hole of dispair in a fight that we can never win.
F*ck the Geneva Convention. Our enemies said the same thing on 9/11/2001 when they hijacked civilian aircraft and used them as guided missiles against (mostly) civilian targets.
The only way to win this now is to terrify the terrorists. They have stepped on the rattlesnake's tail.
As all of you nutjobs attempt to slide our country into Fascism, just remember that George W. Bush has killed three times as many civilians as Osama Bin Laden. That makes: 1) Bush 3x the war criminal; or 2) the lives of people with brown skin worth 1/3 those with white, and despicable racists out of y'all.
The war in Iraq is unwinnable because it is based on fear and not justice. The civilized world knows it, and none of your ranting can change it.
Doesn't our president constantly remind us that what sets us apart from the terrorists is that we are a country that believes in the rule of law (although it would be nice if he backed up his words with actions)? Although, "he started it" may be a valid defense on the playground in 3rd grade it is not a rational or valid response to terrorism by a civilized society. It may feel nice to "turn[] your mosques, your madrasses, your hotels, your government offices, your hideouts, and your
neighborhoods into rubble", but indiscriminately killing women, children, and and innocent men for the sins of a few (or even a lot of) extremists is terrorism, the same as hijacking a plane and flying it into a tall building is terrorism.
Ahh..terrorism being fought with terrorism.
How impressive. Much like Osama thought to target innocents to make his point, the good Professor feels it behooves us to do the same.
What's interesting is that it shows that Arab wackjobs aren't all that different from American wackjobs.
Stanley : War? Who are we at war with?
Gabriel : Anyone who impinges on America's freedom. Terrorist states, Stanley. Someone must bring their war to them. They bomb a church, we bomb 10. They hijack a plane, we take out an airport. They execute American tourist, we tactically nuke an entire city. Our job is to make terrorism so horrific that is becomes unthinkable to attack Americans.
I'd love to get a look at the professor's end-of-term evaluations by his students.
"correction to above 11SEP01 should ring a bell in Federsons numbskull"
HAHAHA. Obviously rings a big bell in yours.
"Nice rationaliaztion "criminal atrocity". How convenient to avoid the tough decisions required to respond to an act of WAR."
I was reading this nice piece on chrisitan ethics out of Baylor University, and it had this neat argument that since war is sometimes justified, but crime by definition never is, then we actually are recognizing less justification for 9/11 when we call it a crime rather than war.
I'm sure Martin Kozloff is an okay guy but his anger is a bit over-the-top. Is he truly angry at the terrorists or does he just seek a satisfying Rambo-like retrobution? As in: 'my arsenal is bigger than your arsenal so bring it on.'
Doesn't it seem as if letter is just pure provocation?
Kill them all!
It won't really solve the problem unless he likes the sight of dead people on both sides.
MISTER Kozloff (I refuse to dignify such a fool with any academic title) claims there's no racism in his rant? To any sane reader it is riddled with the same evil fantasies found in such racist works as Mein Kampf and The Turner Diaries.
"Our response to the next 11SEP01 should be so horrific, cruel, and bloodthirsty as to inspire at once shame and horror at the mere mention of the word "American". That will prompt "abdul"-whoever to check his neighbor so we don't have to."
So, Spindaddy, we'll defeat the evil bastards by being more evil and bigger bastards than they are? Respond to the murder of innocents bu murdering ten times as many innocents? You are becoming what you claim to hate!
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world if he loses his soul?
Oh yeah, baby. Big tough talk about killing people, lots of people. From an education professor. He's just too cool for school. He should suit up, get his gun, and start shooting towel heads in his home town right now!
Oh wait, no, that would be dangerous and he'd get arrested. So, join the army! No, wait, that would be dangerous and underpaid and he'd get dirty.
Best to sit back in the easy chair and resume his tireless advocacy of racist murder and medieval crusading behavior. Someone else can "implement".
Gosh, this holy war stuff is easy!
