THE SHARON-BUSH PLOT THICKENS
It appears the Arab world has a new delusional system to explain its failures: The U.S. and Israel are secretly removing body organs from innocent Arabs. While Iran asserts that Israel is stealing Palestinian childrens' eyes, (see here) our friends the Saudis (see here)argue that U.S. soldiers are harvesting organs of Iraqis.
How different, Horsefeathers wonders, is this kind of primitive scapegoating from the rantings of our highly educated wordsmith intellectuals? Observe the recent obsession by the likes of Maureen Dowd, Tom Friedman, William Kristol and Andrew Sullivan with Donald Rumsfeld as the cause of all bad things, and ask: who makes more sense? So far they haven't suggested Rumsfeld is harvesting limbs of wounded soldiers, but they might as well, given their aggrieved rebellion against the realities of war. Disappointed utopianism transcends party affiliation and inevitably requires scapegoats. What wonderful bipartisanship: our Monday morning quarterbacks, Bill Kristol and Maureen Dowd, united in their infantile criticisms of Rumsfeld. How fortunate we are that these pundits weren't around 60 years ago.
