Every nation has its age of ascendancy and its age of decline and one day we probably will see the end of the American era. We are not as mighty a nation as some Americans think because our roots are indeed thin and thinning. If I had to bet on the survival of Islam (not an Arabic Kingdom such as Saudi Arabia) versus the survival ot the the USA I would -this may surprise many- put my bets on Islam. Of course, it is my sincere hope that the Islam that does survive the fall of the American republic will be a transformed and liberalized Islam.
For the USA, like Athens, like Rome, like Jerusalem is mortal but the idea of One Nation, under God, the idea of a constitutional limited goverment is an idea that will never be forgotten. Palestine will be forgotten, France and the French language will go the way of Gaul and Gaulish, and yes, even Scotland, will be forgotten and only scholars will say "once upon a time there were a people called the Gaels" .

Bin Laden and his ilk may not know many things but they know one big thing: THAT THEIR GOD IS GREAT.

FUIT TROY...once there was a Troy....once there was a brave band of lads company upon company in the Auld 93rd and they spoke and sang in a language the strangers do not know.....once Lincoln spoke and we remember him still and once Jefferson dined alone in the White House...and there was more scholarship and wisdom there than to be found in many a time and place....many things will pass away....as the Athens of Pericles passed away....one day OLD GLORY forsaken perhaps by GOD and te MOSAIC LAW will be be struck...if ROME is any example few will care by then....

But FREEDOM, Democracy, the Bible, and God of Abraham will not pass away.
