September 20, 2005THE NYTIMES SWALLOWS HARD AND REPORTS THE BAD NEWS: YOUNG WOMEN WANT TO BE MOTHERS        Central to politically correct, PoMo dogma is the conviction that differences, especially the difference between the sexes can be abolished. Biology may seem determinative, but really, according to these neo-Marxist utopians, the "narrative" of gender" can be changed by a revolutionary change of consciousness. Women, they argue, are victims of an oppressive, patriarchal narrative designed to bar them from professional accomplishment, and force them to seek gratification in motherhood. If they learn that other narratives are possible they will shake free of the shackles, and find gratification in the corporate board room, or as 18 hr./day partners in major law firms, or as members of the NYTimes editorial board. Now, however, after 40 years of indoctrination, oops teaching, we learn that (Many Women at Elite Colleges Set Career Path to Motherhood) there are differences between young women and men, and that, curiously, women seem to possess a maternal yearning that outweighs ambition for worldly accomplishments. << Back to Horsefeathers |

Yes, I read this article too and my wife and daughters and I talked about it at the dinner table tonight. I must say it gave me inner joy to hear how my daughters -rejecting the sexual suicidal Sangerite view- embraced their future motherhood and emphasized their strongly pro-life views. I have noticed for years that my daughters were more strongly pro-life than I (I consider myself a Catholic moderate on this issue). Interesting enough THEY are influencing ME to consider more strongly pro-life views. THEY remind me that Susan B. Anthony was STRONG PRO-LIFE (as as the beautiful and prolific Julia Ward Howe). At first I resisted but then I realized only by their complete and strong repudiation of Sangerite views could I be assured of two daughters who would respect life and value FAMILY values over selfish, hedonist, narcissistic Sangerite values. Unlike many PC university feminists my daughters do not conflate Susan B Anthony with Margaret Sanger. (It helps that we have Catholic Radio in Kern County so that our children hear diverse and alternative views rarely heard on university campuses). Of course, in my own way I am a feminist in the sense that I believe young girls should be highly educated,be able to defend themselves economically and have better choices. I also believe better educated mothers will raise the cultural level of a household for the betterment of all. Nonetheless, I believe that men and women are NOT ABSOLUTELY EQUAL and EXACTLY the SAME. Young women who embrace careerism risk alienating a narrowing crop of marriagable men. Many men are unmarriagable today due to their own selfish hedonism and their disinterest in taking the resposiblity of forming families. Many men are also embittered that the Feminist Revolution has left them very little reason to marry or to stay in a marriage. But of course American women are not entirely blind; they realize men will vote with their feet and chose more congenial mates. Here in California the intermarriage rate between non-Hispanic men and Hispanic women is phenomenal. Almost 75% of Hispanic women marry non-Hispanics. Hispanic women marry more often, for longer periods of time, are less likely to divorce and have more children (three or four times the rate of non-Hispanics). Yes, it nice to have a second-breadwinner, 401ks, a big house and two brand-new cars. But it is nicer to have a HOME, neat and clean with homecooked meals, family dinners, well-mannered children. I think that many women CHOOSE (remember choice?) these things too for the good of the COMMON GOOD OF THE FAMILY. Make no mistake MEN SACRIFICE for their children and their wives just as mothers sacrifice for their FAMILIES and CHILDREN. In the final analysis one cannot efface gender and human nature. Nature always wins out. This is also called the Roe Effect. Pro-life families are larger and more likely to replicate their values. The familiy trees of Spinster Sangerites and Sterlie by Choice Sangerites tend to wither on the vine. This is not prejudice; this is just common sense. Many of my best students wearly of the Ivy Leagues and lower the sights to become school teachers, marry and have children. I think they have the good sense to know that they have little of no property and will be marriagable only for a short time (ages 19-35). Of course, this gives me hope that America will not demographically collapse like Russia, Italy, France and Spain. In this past year I visited Glasgow University, New York University, Columbia University and William and Marry. I also visited Liberty University. Amazingly, even though I am not an Evangelical Protestant, I felt most welcomed at Liberty University. One reason is that anti-Catholic prejudice and fanaticism has diminished in Evangelical circles (while it probably has increased in liberal feminist intellectual venues). Another reason of course is that we have much common ground and benefit from the successful ecumenicalism of John Paul II and the likes of Billy Graham and the Promise Keeper movement. It has been a very long time since an Evangelical Christian has denied my right to call myself a Chrisitian. On the other hand, there is a new fanaticism among the Liberal Inquistors who believe classical literature, the pledge of Alllegiance and any allusion to Judeo-Christian values is a violation of the Constitution (according to their own fanatical unreasonable neo-marxist atheistic views). John Dewey remains as I have seen, the Guru of the Cult of Teacher Ed secular theology that greatly harms American education, American culture and in fact the survival and success of English-speaking peoples. Not being English myself this does not concern me too much. I know civilizations have the ability to migrate to healthier hybrid cultures. But I admit it will be a shame some centuries on when Shakespeare is read mostly in translation but it happened to Vergil,Mary Mor of the Songs,Ian Cameron, Duncan Ban, Davey O Bruadair and St. Paul too. Recently I lived in the belly of the beast. There I was recognized at UVA as the enemey of Deweyism and the Liberal Inquisition; I do not deny it. I know I was cursed under the breath of many those who mourned the defeat of Kerry and Pale Blue Cold America. I left the Curry School with the deep belief that American education could only be improved by the abolition of the monopoly of Schools of Education on teacher certification. The mediocrity of our teachers is directly related to the flabby ideological psuedo-science that smothers the minds (largely uncultivated) of American teacher-ed students. Don't get be wrong. There were some pleasant people at UVA but phlososphically teacher-ed schools are confused, muddled and bankrupt. They contribute little or nothing to civlization, In fact they probably lower the level of culture by their mideducaiton. Having a Phd in Education - the mini doctorate EdD is now avoided like the plague- is is mostly an exercise in sychophancy and jumping through hoops. Who gets one need not say he or she has endured and achieved but he or she may say they have begged, borrowed and purchased a title as valuable to Western Civilization as that of a High Clerk of the Spanish Inquisition. It is the world of many Ward Churchills (an author read, discussed and actually praised while E.D Hirsch is dismissed!!!) Much honor, much puff, much huff but mostly yawns and overstuffed unreadable papers and journals. Strange as it might seem, the Curry School was the First Circle to me. I remembered again how much I HATED HIGH SCHOOL and desired to be free of it. I who always loved books and learning HATED SCHOOL. School was the enemey to my happiness and my reading pleasure. At UVA it became the enemey again. It separated me from my friends and loved ones and offered me little in return. I survived only thanks to the prayers and letters from my friends in the West, the Spanish Realm and Gaeldom. But make no mistake, I suffered and many a time regretted I tied myself to such a New Age Sangerite Sassenach Yoke. How I longed to be free and far from that madding crowd! How I longed for the Hispanic Choir of St.Augustine and the Ceilidhs of my youth! How I longed for my piano, my daughter's fiddle, her laughter, good cheer and music galore! How I longed for Mass in the Red Cathedral of Oban and for Mairi MacInnes's etheral voice on the wireless or on the phone moladh sinn i gach latha oh yes, we praied Our Lady each day in the tongue of Deidere and Dermott, beloved of God. How I longed for quiet places where four-letter Anglo-Saxon words were unknown and unspoken. Two things I noticed about American college women and how they have changed since the 1970's. They drink more and swear more and are thicker around the waist. They must average (like many of the young men) 20 30 40 pounds more than youth of another age. And it is not babies that make them fat but beer and probably hormones too. I often thought if this is American womanhood perhaps I'll go to Timbuktu or Tiree. That world I thought those values were not worth defending. They were horrilbe and repulsive and so utterly wrong. Perhaps I am mistaken perhaps I am passee as passee and as mad as Bin Laden himself. Of course, I do not have a muderous hate and rage in my breast like Bin Laden, who studied at Berkeley. Bin Laden of course is a very mistaken and ignorant man. He knows nothing of Souix City Iowa or Clovis Califoria. To him our world is a world of Sangerites and Hypocrites marked for damnation and distruction. But when all is said and done Bin Laden, I thought, is not entirely wrong. Bin Laden believes the Chaos of the West is Sinister and Perverse and begs distruction. He believes he is God's instrument to hurry Western Civ to its doom. Bin Laden thinks the Secular West is an aging Steer and upon its bones true Islam will rise, But as I said Bin Laden is an igorant man. He believe England is an island and never heard of Thomas Hassett or Bartolome de las Casas or Elizabeth Seton nor of Livingston I presume nor Mother Teresa. Yes we have Las Vegas and Rome had its fleshpots but Rome was also Hispannia and Illyria. Bin Laden may be right to recognize the decadent West as the enemey to life and HIS truth. Bin Laden is wrong to think he can hasten the fall of the West. If anything he may stimulate its renaissance. How ironic that would be but then again Charles Martel did win at Tours and Pelayo de win at Covadonga and Phillip II did win at Lepanto. But I digress. I spent as much time as possible talking to people outside the university; people who were normal; people who appreciated literature and poetry. It was astounding to me that so many PHD's could be so dull and boring. It really was a great relief to get away. Was it worth it? Yes, as long as someone else paid the bill. Personally, I would have demanded a refund. I found the school vastly overated and overpriced. But Demography is destiny and only Mother tongues endure. Languages without wombs, without realms without vibrant playgrounds and streets become one with Etruscan, Latin and Galatian. But not the Gaelic...not just yet. Columba himself would have been amazed to know that the language of Eden would outlive Latin. But if it did it was due to the women of Gaeldom. No paltry women they. And they always loved the bairns NA DAOINE BEAGA the wee ones ! That's whey there are so many Macs, Cohans, Quinns and O' Neil's. Aye they men did their bit but it was the lassies who earned the bree. Aye, here's to the lassies the ones that want to be lassies and like my dear old departed Mither. Noo a' are gaen we'll meet nae mair but thank God Mother had us. Thank God she spurned Planned Promiscuity and Sexcual Suicide. Thank God she influenced my daughters. There is hope for this old world yet! Up with St. Brigid and down with the Apostate Renegade and destroyer of youthful cohorts: Margaret Sanger. Grass grows not on the well trodden bone dry pathway. Aye the Paths of Gory Sanger lead only to the grave.

Did any of these greedy young women wonder where those husbands they want to leech off of are going to come from?
These days, 60 percent of college freshmen are women, as are the students at elite programs. Where are the would be parasites described in the story going to find hosts?
If women can't use elite education, if only 38 percent of them use their professions ten years after graduation, then perhaps they shouldn't push to the head of the line to obtain it it.
And there would be more men for them to latch on to. These days...
