THE NYTIMES: OUR VERY OWN AL JAZEERA
We can now add 'treachery' to 'cowardice', as defining traits of left utopian Liberalism. Its house organ, The New York Times, having appointed itself arbiter of national security, is prepared to see millions die at the hands of fanatics to preserve its grandiose sense of virtue.
“This is a highly classified program that is crucial to our national security. Its purpose is to detect and prevent terrorist attacks against the United States, our friends and allies. Yesterday the existence of this secret program was revealed in media reports, after being improperly provided to news organizations. As a result, our enemies have learned information they should not have, and the unauthorized disclosure of this effort damages our national security and puts our citizens at risk. Revealing classified information is illegal, alerts our enemies, and endangers our country.” --President George W. Bush, Saturday, December 17th, 2005
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."
--Marcus Tullius Cicero 42B.C

Great quote from Cicero.
When it comes down to it the NYT has started to believe its own propaganda. They probably believe with Pinter, that the USA is the greatest danger to world peace. In their core the are ashamed to be parasites and admit they are cowardly and totally dependent on others to protect them.
For those who fight for it FREEDOM has a flavor the PROTECTED never know.
But one thing is certain. A great paper the NYT no longer is. It's great days are clearly past. One day it will join the Herald Tribune into the junk heap of history. They simply aren't needed any more nor trusted.

The saddest thing about this program is that it didn't start before 9/11. Had such vigor been in evidence before the attack, it's quite possible that the murder of our thousands of neighbors would have been prevented.
Let's call the illegal endangerment of our citizens what it actually is: treason.
