THE ASSOCIATED PRESS AT WORK: HUMANIZING SAVAGES

Trust the AP to throw into the middle of an account of Israel's efforts to defeat the Islamo-fascist savages, a literary moment designed to bring tears of admiration to the eyes of readers. The "fluttering dusty pages" is what really got to me. How cruel can Israel be?

"...Furniture pieces, blankets, mattresses, clothes and soft toys were scattered on the streets. A copy of the Quran, Islam's holy book, lay in the street with its dusty pages fluttering until it was reverently lifted and kissed by a Hezbollah gunman..."

hello horsefeathers!
The main stream media & wire services are nothing but a pack of hacks & shills. When reporting from an Arab controlled area(or any dictatorship for that matter)they have limited options.A reporter can be objective & candid(foolish?) whereupon he will be given either a ticket for an airplane out or a resting place in a ditch, with a bullet in his head.If this happens the news service is thrown out of the area & the reporter is out of this world. For the reporter it is a far better deal to lie & do agit/prop for the locals rather than stick with the truth.

P.S. A great many nations around the globe are ruled by dictatorial regimes so you can make a good guess about the quality & value of reports coming from these so-called news services.

Hello Horsefeathers!
I just read your posting on the article about dangerous fantasies, great opinion which I agree with. Going further on the subject, check out the ideas of the late DR. Erich Fromm, & also the old conflicts between the extreme nurturists/ extreme naturists. As to the current fighting in Lebanon,I think Israel could break this war wide open.My idea is this;American forces are grinding it out in Iraq & need to show some material progress there for the public back home.A big win for Israel could be to the eastern battles(Iraq) what the Normandy landings in WW2 were to the Soviet front.Iran is overextended toward the west & Syria's positon could be similar to Italy's in 1943 ,they would be pinched between 2 strong forces east & west.If Israel decisively defeats the terrorist proxies of Iran it would be a big loss for the Mullahs. To do this Israel must have the strong backing of the Bush administration in Washington & the strength to absorb significant casualties.
