THE NEW YORK TIMES FINDS A NEW HERO: HASSAN NASRALLAH

Totalitarian killers in pursuit of a murderous utopian agenda can always count on the New York Times to transform them into noble representatives of the popular will. Whether Stalin or Hitler, Pol Pot, or Mao, Fidel, Che or Arafat, the Times will humanize them. The archetype was cuddly Uncle Joe Stalin as seen through the eyes of Walter Duranty. Count on Duranty's successors to enlighten us about how personable these tyrants are, how charismatic, good to their pets and beloved by the people. Mass forced starvation, forced abortion, millions in gulags, genocide? Not part of "all the news that's fit to print". When atrocities like China's cultural revolution somehow do make it to the Times, they're accompanied by a barrage of articles explaining why such measures are really regrettably necessary. Furthermore, the Times helps us identify with the human struggles that burden these leaders. We learn of their personal kindness, their tragic family losses, their affability, their love of children and pets, but especially of how much they care for ordinary people, the kind of people the Times itself believes require help from their betters on its editorial Board.
Unfortunately for the Times, all except Fidel of the above named tyrants have shuffled off this mortal coil, and Fidel seems on his way, so there's need for a new hero. Hugo Chavez is one possible candidate now auditioning, and indeed the Times has featured articles from the Walter Duranty-Stalin--Lenin ("You can't make an omelet without breaking eggs") playbook to airbrush out the belligerent, genocidal threats. However Chavez has apparently not begun murdering people in large numbers so he leaves something to be desired.
Today however, the Times has found its man: Sheik Hassan Nasrallah. In an article we'd deem worthy of the 2006 Lord Haw Haw prize, Neil MacFarquahar (Arab World Finds an Icon) can barely contain himself as he plants a big wet kiss ("genius")on a cowardly psychopath out of the 8th Century, who has acquired weapons that allow him to kill while hiding behind women and children. This two bit thug, this worthless lump of human protoplasm, is portrayed as a caring, modest and thoughtful man; "He is believed to live modestly and rarely socializes outside Hezbollah’s ruling circles. He avoids the telephone for safety reasons, but has met thousands of constituents and dispatches personal messengers to congratulate them for weddings and births..." Now there's a man we could all emulate. This serial killer, with aspirations to annihilate the Jews, "...is a powerful orator with a robust command of classical Arabic, yet he makes himself widely understood by using some Lebanese dialect in every speech..." Wow, what a wordsmith! And a man of the people! Just the kind of man to evoke submissive awe from a journalist with a secret craving for violent heros. And topping it all off, why the man is cuddly and has a sense of humor: "...He comes across as far less dour than most Shiite clerics partly due to his roly-poly figure and slight lisp. But he also — very unusually — cracks jokes." We're sure he'll have lots of good ones to tell about the apartment buildings that collapsed when hit by one of his rocket bombs filled with ball bearings and metal shards.
Thanks New York Times, for an up close and personal look at this wonderful man who is contributing so much to the restoration of the Caliphate and a return to the 8th century, free of infidels. Wouldn't it be a little more honest though, if you renamed yourselves The Jihad Times? All the news the fatwas allow.

Pinch Sulzberger is so awful he makes his hideous grandfather, Arthur Hays SUlzberger seem like Horace Greeley in comparison.

Sheik Hassan Nasrallah is a fanatical, homicidal thug with strong totalitarian tendencies.

But of course the liberal way is to try to 'understand' and therefore be able to dialogue with and come to a consensus with this strange other.

In liberal view you see everything will be all right if we get together, hash out all the conflicts and sign agreements. Then everyone will be happy, there will be world peace and of course liberals can feel noble and party on.

The problem with this naive world view is simply this: the liberals presuppose an universal acceptance of democractic consensus and resepect for rule of law. They think that if they are nice and appease and disarm everything will be all right.

Now I think rule of law and freedom is a wonderful thing. I think that living in a free society is a wonderful thing. There is nothing I like better than peace. The peace of my garden. The peace of being able to go to work and to every day tasks without be attacked by gangs or rockets. The peace of a well-ordered classroom where I can talk about permanent things, history, language and poetry. I agree with the liberals that peace is better than war.

But we have a fundamental philosophical difference.

I know from experience IN LIFE as well as my education THAT CIVILIZATION is a fragile thing. I have seen excellence in education, cleanliness and discipline in a school evaporate over a few short years. I have seen lovely cities and parks vandalized by gangs until they are unliveable and are abandoned, essentially ceded to anarchy and ugliness.

I never have had a lot of money. I have had to economize and work -sometimes at two or three jobs sometimes seven days a week just to get by and try to save and of course have been frustrated because the more I attempt to save and invest the more I have to pay in taxes. But because I have worked hard for my small little life and my small little security I value it greatly. I know that it is a fragile security and it depends entirely on the health and stablility of the USA and in a larger sense in the Western World.

Unlike dreamy liberals who must live and have lived in a cushy upper class bubble I believe the world is a tough place, and sometimes a dangerous place.
I know in a pinch I might have to fight to defend myself or my loved ones. So I am ready to do so. I am a gentle man but I have the toughness and the ferocity to defend myself and those I love.

I don't think ordered liberty is an automatic thing just as I don't think making a living is an automatic thing. If a free people want to remain free then they must be prepared to fight to maintain order.

There are bad guys (badjins) who wish EXTERMINATE their enemies. I wish I could say this wasn't true.

I have never loved Fidel Castro for example and have wished for his containment but I have never thought we could not talk to Castro. I do not like Castro but felt we could peacefully coexist with him until inevitably his rotten nonproductive communist system collapses.

Castro himself, though an unscrupulous dictator, has never called for the EXTERMINATION OF an entire nation such as Sheik Hassan Nasrallah has.

It comes down to this. People of the left are naive enough to think wealth comes naturally and can be distributed by the Bold State.

People of the left are naive and think that people are bascially good and you can deal with anyone. They can't come to grips with reality that there will always be DEATH, EVIL AND TAXES.

Taxes, a necessary evil, we can try to live with an through the democratic process see that they are not suffocating and confiscatory.

But Evil and Death are things we have to learn to live with.

There are bad guys (badjins) who do not want peace but who want war.

You cannot have talks with evil, dangerous, aggressive people.

You cannot have unlimited tolerance for intolerance and extremism.

You can only deter them through superior strength or you can fight for your life.

Sheik Hassan Nasrallah believes in someting fanatically. His aim is to assert the authority of his particular belief system of one book, one law, one people. In his world view there is no room for anyone else. In his world view it is just a matter of time -though it may take centuries- before his world view conquers. To Sheik Hassan Nasrallah the Koran is the eternal word of God. His followers would rather ensure the authority of the Mullahs and Ayatollahs of the social and religious system to which they belong RATHER THAN ASSERT THE PRIMACY OF KNOWLEDGE, FREEDOM AND THE MIND.

The real danger is we in the West believe in nothing except in the desire to party on. We are abandoning the idea of enduring values and virtues.

The liberals have to learn something.
There are barbarians around and among us. They are here now and there will be others. THERE WILL BE NO GOLDEN FUTURE TIME when there will be no crime, no war no violence.

Adolf Hitler with his goose-stepping stormstroopers, his adoration of power as symbolized by the swastika was one of those barbarians.

Hitler with his evil SS Gestapo, his blood rituals, his hatred of logic was a barbarian.

Hitler was praised as a stateman -he was nominated for the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE! But Hitler's corrosive hatred and lust for punishment and conquest was insatiable. Above all the most dangerous thing about Hitler was his hatred of the roots of our civilzation: the ethical monotheism of the Jews and of her daughter religions. It is all spelled out in MEIN KAMPH in his speeches. Hitler WAS A PROFOUNDLY EVIL MAN. Appeasing Hitler and waiting to deal with him 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939 just allowed the monster to grow in might until he came only one step from world domination. To put fascism to the sword took 60,000,000 lives. I have never forgotten that many of those lives were friends and contemporaries of my father and my father's generation. I have seen the price of appeasement in the silver books of the Scottish War Memorial. Star athletes of the Glasgow schools of the 1920's and 1930's you never heard of them but they fought with rifles against tanks at Dunkirk with a little dynamite and a lot of guts. They held off the Nazis for three weeks after the fall of Dunkirk. Every single soldier of the Highland Division was killed, wounded or captured, including many of my father's teamates and boyhood friends. I remember how he wept when he saw their names in the book and remarked that it could have been "him". They were sacrificed at a terrible cost because they were sent into battle with obsolete weapons because the appeasers of the time did not want to face reality and forgot the ancient wisdom: "a man without arms in time of peace will find he has none in a time of war and danger."

Nasrallah and his ilk are also PROFOUNDLY EVIL and DANGEROUS. They have to be confronted and stopped. If necessary he should be killed or captured. His terrorist band must be disarmed and smashed.

But liberals think that if I say this truth somehow I, or president Bush, are HELPING ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS and encouraging them. But this is naive. The Islamofascists, like Hitler before them, need no encouragement or help from the likes of me to be evil. The evil and hatred in their hearts they have put there themselves.

Liberals as late as 1938 could not believe the reality that Hilter in his red-toothed belief in violence, power, imperialism and FORCE would devour them and destroy their democratic polities.

Liberals and Europacifists hesitate to call Hezbollah a terrorist organization -because it might make them feel bad and it might 'force' them to become more violent.

Liberals and Europacifists praise a demagogue and fanatic like Sheik Hassan Nasrallah. This is disgusting.

Sheik Hassan Nasrallah is a sinister individual.

His poltical party Hezbollah is sinister.

His sponsors in Iran and Syria are cynical and sinister.

Appeasing and praising would be dictators and thugs will not assure the peace though apparently there are some who think so.

Neil MacFarquahar has name that evokes manliness and heroism.

Such manliness and heroism was, at one time, the pride of the nation and a the guarantor of freedom and security of free peoples.

It is with shame I read the limp prose of an appeasing sychophant ,carrying such a name, with the fortitude worthy of a meek eunuch of the Caliph's hareem.

Islamofascists cannot surpass us in productivity or defeat us in open battle.

But make no mistake.

The enemy can outlast us.

Because they believe in going forth and multiplying and they believe the future belongs to them.

The more they believe that and the more they believe we are weak the greater the danger is.

We are in need of strength and the civic virtues.
We are in need of patriotism and love of country.
We must brace ourselves for this terrible coming mortal storm for it is coming.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition....we are going to need plenty of both.
